2010 Best Translated Book Award: al-Ghitani on Longlist

One Arabic novel (in English) makes the 2010 Best Translated Book Award list from “Three Percent” and Open Letter Books. It’s The Zafarani Files by Gamal al-Ghitani, which was translated by Farouk Abdel Wahab and published by AUC Press.

Although I admired The Pyramid Texts (translated by Humphrey Davies) quite a bit, and I’ve enjoyed many of al-Ghitani’s short stories, I’m afraid I have not delved more than a few pages into The Zafarani Files. So much to read! So little…time.

A critical review on Gently Read.

The glowing review from Three Percent.
