You can win a signed copy of al-Madhoun’s International Prize for Arabic Fiction-shortlisted Lady from Tel Aviv, trans. Elliott Colla, by answering just one small question:

What is your favourite contemporary Arabic fiction title in translation, and why?

There’s no required word count, so I imagine you could be fairly pithy. Or verbose, if you prefer. But you must send your answers, full name, and contact number to info@arabbritishcentre.org.uk by Thursday June 27 to qualify for the drawing. The winner will be picked at random and informed on the following day.

If you do win, I’m not sure you’ll have time to receive and read the book before al-Madhoun appears at Foyle’s Bookshop (113-119 Charing Cross Rd, London WC2H 0EB) on July 1 at 6:30 p.m. as part of the Shubbak Festival. The lovely Selma Dabbagh, author of Out of It, will be hosting a conversation with him, followed by a “complementary drinks reception.”
