Emerging Writers: Apply for ‘Beirut Short Stories’ 2016

If you’re an emerging short-story writer living in Beirut, the Goethe-Institut Libanon is looking for you. But, you know, in a good way:

According to organizers:

After two successful years of “Cairo Short Stories”, the project for the promotion of young authors in the Middle East will be continued in Beirut in 2016. The Goethe-Institut Libanon, supported by the KfW-foundation, is offering workshops which will be headed by Mr. Hussain Al-Mozany.

“Beirut Short Stories” is addressed to talented young authors from various origins, living in Lebanon and writing in Arabic as their native language. These young talents are invited to develop and discuss short stories in the framework of writing workshops, headed by the author, journalist and translator Hussain Al-Mozany. Following the workshop, a special jury in Beirut will evaluate the texts.

They’re looking for “talented new writers,” ages 20-39, whose native language is (an) Arabic and who have Lebanese residency. The application deadline is January 1, 2016. More here.
