Sunday Submissions: Literary Magazines Looking for Translations in July

Magazines looking for literary translations this month:

Lunch Ticket

Lunch Ticket’s “Amuse-Bouche” spotlights individual writers and artists every other week throughout the year, but they only accept literary submissions during January and July.

Lunch Ticket and Amuse-Bouche both publish “Poetry, Fiction, Creative Nonfiction, Flash Prose (any genre), Young Adult (13+), Literary Translation & Multi-Lingual Texts, and Visual Art.” Submit here.

Isthmus

Isthmus magazine says that, this month, they’re looking for “stories, essays, and poems with political engagement for special issue where the writer serves as public intellectual. Works should bear witness, advocate, or explore a current issue or event, such as climate change, the current election, LGBT rights, and everything in-between. Successful submissions will NOT be op-ed pieces or propaganda. Original, unpublished works and translations welcome in fiction, creative nonfiction, and poetry, through our regular submission manager.” The deadline is August 1, 2016. Submit here.

Booklyn Rail has a lively translation section at intranslation.brooklynrail.org/. They remind you that: “Translators must hold the necessary rights and permissions for the original work, unless it is in the public domain. Please provide copyright information (the name of the copyright holder + the year of original publication) for the original work.” Submit here.
