Sunday Submissions: 3 Translation Contests and a Magazine Courting Translators

Three new contests are open for translators, and The Chattahoochee Review announces that they don’t charge translators a submission fee:

Epiphany literary journal has opened its annual contest, which runs from January 4–February 20 and encompasses four categories, including “Translation: Fiction.” The latter category will be judged by celebrated Italian translator Ann Goldstein.

First prize is $400 and publication in the magazine’s contest issue; runners-up earn $100 and publication. The contest submission fee, a not-insignificant $20, includes a year’s subscription to the magazine.

Meanwhile, The Chattahoochee Review announced on twitter that, while they charge a fee to fiction and poetry prize submitters, translators can submit without charge.

For those who translate Arab work from French, submissions are open for the Oxford-Weidenfelt Translation Prize 2017, for book-length translations into English from “any living European language.”

For those who translate from English into Arabic and are a current or former UN worker, the St. Jerome Translation Contest is open for submissions through January 31.
