Sunday Submissions: $20,000 for 100-word Story in English, Arabic, Spanish, or Hebrew

The deadline for this year’s César Egido Serrano Foundation prize — which accepts short-short stories with a maximum of 100 words — is November 23:

Stories can also be submitted in Spanish, English, and Hebrew.

There will be one main prize, of $20,000 US, and three prizes of $1,000 each for the best stories in each of the remaining three languages.

In the previous edition, writers from 149 countries participated, with a total of 35,609 microfictions in the four languages. Previous winners in Arabic include celebrated Egyptian author Tarek Emam and Egyptian Samir Awwad Eid Sharif.

Last year, Argentina had the most participants, with more than 8,000 stories submitted, followed by Spain and the United States.
