Thursday’s protest is the launch event of a new group, “Protecting the Egyptian Mind.” According to Ahram Online, it’s the brainchild of novelist Ibrahim Abdel-Meguid, artist Mohamed Abla, critics Sabry Hafez and Mohamed Badawi, writer Abla El-Roweini, professor Sherine Abul-Naga, publisher Fatma El-Boudi and a number of others.
Ahram Online said that more initiatives are planned, online and offline, including a major outreach campaign. Certainly, a major campaign is needed; much, much more than a protest.
Meanwhile, more about tomorrow’s protest on Facebook. More about recent attacks on Egyptians’ freedom of speech here.
