If you’re in the Bay Area tomorrow, don’t miss readings by translator Kareem James Abu-Zeid from three forthcoming works:
The second is Iraqi poet Dunya Mikhail’s The Iraqi Nights, set to come out from New Directions this year. The his is Mikhail’s third collection and takes The One Thousand and One Nights as its central theme.
The third book is multi-award-winning Rabee Jaber’s Confessions, forthcoming in 2015 from New Directions, the second novel of Jaber’s that Abu-Zeid has translated. The first was The Mehlis Report, which came out in 2013, a book Abu-Zeid had long wanted to translate.
Abu-Zeid has called this a “low-key event,” but it’s certain to be an interesting one. So if you can make it:
