Coming Next Month: Edinburgh Arab Festival

One month after London’s Shubbak, Edinburgh will host its own Arab Festival 2015 on August 28-29 at the University of Edinburgh:

Events include readings from A Bird is Not a Stone: An Anthology of Contemporary Palestinian Poetry, ed. Henry Bell and Sarah Irving; a guided tour of the University of Edinburgh Library’s Special Manuscript collection; a calligraphy workshop; and an Arabic and English poetry reading by Palestinian-Syrian poet Iyad Hayatleh, who lives in Glasgow.

The program currently looks a little thin, but it’s part of Edinburgh’s larger Fringe Festival, which is set to take place in the city from August 7 – 31.

The Fringe will feature a popular adaptation of “Arabian Nights,” among 3,000-some other events.
