The Käpylä Translation Prize is open for submissions through January 15:
Interested translators should submit:
- A 500-750-word statement describing the project and providing basic background information on the author of the text you are translating.
- The translator’s CV.
- A 15 to 20-page excerpt from a book-length translation project that is currently in progress.
- The corresponding section of text in the original language.
- A statement from the author or copyright owner acknowledging that the translator has received permission to translate the selected work (a copy of an e-mail from the copyright holder is acceptable). If the translated work is in public domain, please indicate this in a separate file.
Happily, there is no entry fee.
The winner will be announced on February 28th, 2019. You can find more information at the University of Connecticut website.
