Sunday Submissions: ‘New Poetry in Translation’

Clearly your most important task is to pitch ArabLit Quarterly. But once you’ve got that in hand, there is a lovely small magazine called New Poetry in Translation looking for submissions:

The magazine hasn’t yet published any poetry translated from Arabic, but they’ve brought out beautiful works by Mohammed Khaïr-Eddine (translated by Jake Syersak), Attar (translated by Sholeh Wolpé), Mostafa Nissabouri (translated by Pierre Joris), and Carmen Boullosa (translated by Catherine Hammond).

From their submission guidelines:

New Poetry in Translation welcomes submissions of previously unpublished poetry in translation.

Please submit up to 10 pages of translated poetry in a single file (either PDF or Word) along with a cover letter containing brief bios of the poet and translator to:

editors@newpoetryintranslation.com

We accept poetry translations (including prose poems) from any language and any time period. All necessary permissions must be secured by the translator before submitting. Simultaneous submissions are accepted, but please notify us at the above e-mail address as soon as the work or works have been accepted elsewhere.

We strive to respond to all submissions within 6-8 weeks.
