Launching ARABLITe: Revista de Literatura Arabe Traducida

On September 15, 2025, ArabLit will launch ARABLITe, an online magazine devoted to Arabic literature and its translations into Spanish and other co-official languages, such as Catalan, Basque or Galician, and Guaraní, Quechua or Aymara.
ARABLITe — to be helmed by translator and scholar Paula Santillán Grimm — will include both original work and articles published in ArabLit, translated into Spanish. In turn, ArabLit may include work originally published in ARABLITe, translated into English.
The name
ARABLITe is the sum of “ArabLit” plus a lowercase “e”: the first letter in “español” and in “electronic.” Moreover, the way it’s pronounced in English, ærəblaɪt (or arablight) , reminds us of the increasing importance of coming up with new ideas that bring light to today’s world.

What will you find in ARABLITe?
ARABLITe will kick off on Monday September 15, and will feature four main sections:
- Fiction
- Poetry
- Arabicana (a section on Arab cultures in Latin America)
- Interviews
What is ARABLITe currently looking for?
Apart from the work performed by its professional team, ARABLITe will need the support of the Spanish-speaking community and anyone interested in fostering Arabic literature across the Spanish worlds. From today onwards, ARABLITe welcomes volunteers willing to collaborate in:
- writing articles;
- translating texts from Arabic into Spanish;
- suggesting topics for ARABLITe.

El próximo 15 de septiembre ArabLit lanzará ARABLITe, una revista en línea dedicada a la literatura árabe traducida al español y a otras lenguas cooficiales tales como el catalán, el vasco o el gallego, y el guaraní, el quechua o el aimara.
ARABLITe incluirá tanto contenido original como artículos publicados en ArabLit traducidos al español. A su vez, Arablit podrá incluir artículos publicados originalmente en ARABLITe traducidos al inglés.
ARABLITe estará dirigida por la traductora y académica, la Dra. Paula Santillán Grimm.
El nombre
ARABLITe es la combinación de “ArabLit” y una “e” minúscula, que es la primera letra de las palabras “español” y “electrónico”. Es más, su pronunciación en inglés, ærəblaɪt (o arablight), nos recuerda acerca de la creciente importancia de elaborar ideas que iluminen el mundo en el que vivimos.

¿Qué encontrarás en ARABLITe?
ARABLITe comenzará a publicarse el lunes 15 de septiembre e incluirá cuatro secciones principales:
- Ficción
- Poesía
- Arabicana (culturas árabes en América Latina)
- Entrevistas
¿Qué busca ARABLITe actualmente?
Además de contar con su equipo profesional, ARABLITe necesitará la ayuda de la comunidad castellanoparlante o de aquellos que estén interesados en fomentar la literatura árabe en el mundo hispano. Así pues, a partir de hoy acogemos a voluntarios que deseen colaborar con ARABLITe de una o varias de las siguientes maneras:
- redacción de artículos;
- traducción de textos árabes al español (o una lengua co-oficial);
- sugerencias para ARABLITe.
