Inaam Kachachi was born in Baghdad in 1942 and has worked in journalism both in Baghdad and in Paris.
Two of her novels — Tashaari and The American Granddaughter — have been shortlisted by the International Prize for Arabic Fiction. Only The American Granddaughter has been translated into English, by Nariman Youssef.
Kachachi has also published two nonfiction workks, Lorna, her years with Jawad Selim and Paroles d’Irakiennes (written in French), as well as making a documentary about Iraqi doctor Naziha al-Dulaimi.
