Summer Challenge Review: For Bread Alone, Mohamed Choukri

Summer reading challenge participant Winston’s Dad (at least that’s the name of his blog, although his first name seems to be Stu) has posted a review of Mohamed Choukri’s For Bread Alone.

I do enjoy Stu’s unconventional rating system. For Bread Alone rates a camel (stubborn, born survivor, and an essential for trekking in North Africa, like—he says—the book).

He said the book reminded him of Dickens at points, an interesting comparison, for its sprawling metropolis and large underclass. Read more of the review here>>.
