And the Winner Is….

Gina Choe, who promised to read Mourid Barghouti’s I Saw Ramallah and Tayeb Salih’s Season of Migration to the North.

Thanks to everyone who participated in this year’s summer reading challenge! And we still have a very worthy list of contemporary and not-so-contemporary titles, as we asked critics, professors, booksellers, writers and translators which five (Arabic) books they would suggest you must read “before you die.”

(You’d better get going; it’s quite a list.)

Also, the latest review by a reading-challenge participant is Joanna’s review of Ahdaf Soueif’s The Map of Love. You can read her detailed review here.

  1. well done gina

      1. And I’m sorry, Stu! Wish everyone could win…

  2. Thank you, M! I have been talking up your blog; it’s a great resource for those of us interested in hearing/reading more voices from the Arabic world.

    1. I hope you enjoy the books!
