Issam Khalidi, Alon Raab, and James Montague are looking for “scholarly essays, poetry, fiction, and art about the history and culture of football in the Middle East for a special issue of the journal Soccer and Society.”
Although the deadline in their online call for work has passed, the three editors apparently wouldn’t mind a few more ideas.
Do you have a favorite Darwish poem that focuses on football? Are you harboring a lesser-known football fable by Yusuf Idris? Or, of course, have you assembled the great work of Football Art?
Khalidi is a Palestinian scholar and writer, creator of www.hpalestinesports.net. Montague is a Guardian journalist and former editor of TimeOut Beirut, and Raab is a UC Davis professor and co-editor of The Global Game: Writers on Soccer.
