The first details of the region’s first ComicCon—the Middle East Film and ComicCon (MEFCC)—have been released: The show will take place on April 29 and 30 of this year at Abu Dhabi’s National Exhibition Centre.
Organizers said that more than “35 international and regional companies [are] already on board.”
The show, according to a Tuesday press release, is designed both to support local and regional talent and to give fans access to international players in the comic world. A bigshot-artist list was not revealed, but “artists and writers from the major publishers such as Marvel, DC, Top Cow, Udon, TokyoPop & IDW Comics” will be at the two-day event, organizers said.
They also plan to have an “Artist’s Alley” to showcase local and regional artists and writers.
Organizer Ben Caddy said, in the release: “This [Artist’s Alley] is actually a big draw for some of the international publishers…who are always looking for the next crop of talent.”
On their website, MEFCC organizers promise everything from manga to collectibles to comics to pop art to science fiction to gaming.
