If You’re in Washington, D.C….
Palestinian poet Ghassan Zaqtan has been unable to get a visa for his tour of the U.S. in connection with the release of his Like a Straw Bird it Follows Me, trans. Fady Joudah. Please do go support Joudah (an award-winning poet and translator), and go interact with his translations, at upcoming events in DC and NY.

Thanks so much for the exposure! Just a few more details for anyone interested in attending:
Directions to ICC 241:
Enter from the Georgetown University main gates at 37th and O streets. Take the path to the right which will bring you directly to ICC (Intercultural Center). It is a red brick building. Enter the main doors and turn left. Take the stairs or the elevators down one level to floor two. Going straight out of the elevator bank and left out of the stairwell, turn into the first hallway on your left. The wooden double doors (marked 241) at the end of this hallway are the entrance to the Center.
Also please feel free to contact the Department of Arabic and Islamic Studies if there are any questions: arabic@georgetown.edu or 202-687-5743.
See you there!

It’s a bit far for me, of course, but I hope you get a great crowd!
