    Avielah Barclay and Joumana Medlej are both deeply engaged in the Art of the Book.n. They will discuss what each tradition learned from its neighbours – how different materials and techniques were incorporated or dismissed as different scribal traditions and religious identities engaged with them. They will also discuss what we can discern about the calligraphers' and scribes' state of mind by what is visible on the page.
