Call for Submissions: The New Journal, ‘Transference’
ALTA posted this call for submissions from Transference Poetry Journal:
Transference, a new journal published by the Department of World Languages and Literatures at Western Michigan University, invites submissions of translated poetry. We publish translations into English from the following languages: Arabic, Chinese, French and Old French, German, Classical Greek and Latin, Japanese, and Russian.
We welcome your submissions of up to four poems. Be sure to provide each poem in its original language along with its source information in MLA format. We strongly encourage you to write a reflective commentary on the translation process you employed with each text. The commentary may discuss particular challenges posed by the text, elucidate the choices you made, and/or allow the readers a glimpse into your creative process. All submissions will undergo a peer-review process.
Our reading period is October 1-January 15. Send your submissions as Word or PDF attachments along with a brief cover letter that includes your full contact information to: David Kutzko and Molly Lynde-Recchia, Editors, at david.kutzko – at – wmich.edu and molly.lynde-recchia – at – wmich.edu.
While over at their website, I noticed that Western Michigan University also has a summer translation program (for next summer) for Arabic, Spanish, or Japanese. Apply here.
