(Arab) Poetry and Tea in NYC

This Friday, Nov. 9, beginning around 7 p.m., the Arab Studies Club at Hunter College is set to present their second annual “Poetry and Tea Night.”

According to organizer Dina Shabarek, last year’s event featured around “15-20 local students and poets” who recited in classical Arabic, some even in Farsi, French. There was tea and knafeh served, and then we broke out in debka, per usual.”

The event is open mic, but Shabarek said there will also be an emphasis on reciting/performing the work of other Arab poets.

All are welcome.
