In Cairo: ‘Translating the Arab World’ and Bookstore Grand Opening

Coming up in Cairo on Tuesday, May 7, the American University in Cairo’s Center for Translation Studies will host a four-speaker panel titled: “Translating the Arab World: An Anthology,” about the recently published How do we Read the Arab World Today: Alternative Views in the Social Sciences:

Also, on Saturday, May 11, Kotob Khan will have the grand opening of its new Degla – Maadi branch. The Laselky Street branch of Kotob Khan remains open, but owner and publisher Karam Youssef said it will be primarily for book sales, and events will now be held at the Degla store.

The grand-opening festivities will begin at 7 p.m., and will include a concert by Bikya. The new shop is at 13, Road 254, across from the Shell Shop and beside the Samia Alouba gym (map here).
