The American Literary Translators Association (ALTA) has launched a database of publishers for translators to use when looking for a place for their manuscripts:
The database, housed at literarytranslators.org/publishers, looks tremendously useful, although the filters could still use some work: For the source language “Arabic,” it turns up what seems like every publisher. Also, some publishers listed that they offer — as levels of payment — “Contributor Copies, Token, Semi-Pro, Pro.” That’s quite a range.
Also, there were a few errors to be worked out: When I selected poetry, it gave me a list of publishers that were tagged “fiction,” many of which didn’t seem to publish fiction.
In any case, it’s a start.
