Mophradat today announced the selection for their 2021 Grants for Artists.
Mophradat has a new home in Athens. In this venue, they write, they aim to provide "room and respite for individuals, collectives, and organizations from the Arab world who are championing progressive narratives and values."
The six recipients were selected from among nearly 100 applications that came from across the region. Decisions were made with the assistance of a jury that included authors Ahmed Naje, Hussam Hilali, and Samar Yazbek, and playwright and researcher Meriam Bousselmi.
"As with all our programs, we hope they highlight different ways to think about supporting artists that are not exclusively product-oriented."
