The twin aims of the award are to honor and celebrates books in English about Palestine and to “encourage authors and publishers to produce more books on Palestine.”
Which Arabic texts are they? According to the KITAB FAQ, they focus “on the origins of the written Arabic tradition, in the eighth century, up to roughly the fifteenth century, but aim to include as many texts as possible, so you can also find texts written after 1500.”
This week, the literary journal “Akhbar al-Adab” dedicated an issue to Nasser and his work, which features essays by Ghassan Zaqtan, Tarek al-Tayeb, Qassim Haddad, Hoda Barakat, and others.
