In 2012, Ala Younis and Maha Maamoun founded Kayfa ta as an independent publishing initiative that “emerged from a need to break out of the limited readership and distribution of alternative books.”

Wales PEN Cymru is accepting submissions for their Translation Challenge until May 31.
The three-day digital festival is set for July 9-11, and will feature both vibrant literature panels and “quick pitch” sessions where translators talk about Arabic books they think should appear in translation.
“This residency is open to literary translators who translate from Arabic into any official language of the European Union. Eligible candidates must have already translated at least two published works of fiction.”
